What you’ll do…
Department Leaders are responsible for:
▪ Overall vision, performance and results of multiple functional areas
▪ Providing leadership, development, and mentoring to managers and associates through examples and timely feedback.
▪ Setting department goals and overseeing all major projects.
▪ Building, maintaining and leveraging relationships both internally and externally.
▪ Continually evaluating and improving processes and controls related to the firm’s business cycles.
▪ Researching technical topics to determine and recommend the appropriate action to be taken.
▪ Demonstrating the ability to understand financial concepts and analyze financial data.
▪ Proactively working to impact current business results and decisions, as well as prepare for the future.
Skills/Requirements
What you’ll need…
- Bachelor degree and preferred Advanced Degree or Certification in related field.
- 8 to 12 years of related work experience in payroll or finance
- Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
- Understanding of PeopleSoft is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects / people at the same time
- Ability to anticipate business needs and ensure that the functional areas are being developed to handle both current and future needs
Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
**Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June 1, 2026. Before June 1, 2026, candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.**
