Financial Planning advances the firm’s shift from goals-based advice to comprehensive planning by expanding capabilities, tools, and resources. We partner across the division to align and integrate strategy, enabling more teams to consistently deliver client value while evolving planning standards, best practices, and advisory frameworks.
The Advising Specialist II serves as a financial planning subject matter expert, focused on implementing a standardized financial plan review process to ensure quality and consistency. The role requires deep planning expertise, strong understanding of firm guidance, and the ability to provide thought leadership and influence large-scale initiatives.
What You Will Do:
- Review financial plans to ensure they meet firm policies and quality standards.
- Partner with Financial Planning teams to educate, coach, and support advisors in delivering high-quality plans.
- Ensure adherence to current practices and identify opportunities to improve policies and controls.
- Evaluate planning policies for consistency and alignment; apply knowledge of the firm’s business model and investment philosophy.
- Serve a subject matter expert for stakeholders and branch teams to uphold planning policy integrity.
- Collaborate on planning-related projects from design through implementation.
- Partner with Service, Field Supervision, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to resolve planning-related issues.
- Monitor industry, competitor, and regulatory trends and assess impacts on the firm’s approach.
- Drive results through collaboration, including training and mentoring others.

Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7+ years of relevant financial services experience
- Series 7 & 66 required or attainable within 6 months of hire
- CFP required or begin within six months of hire
- Deep SME in at least one of the following or broad exposure and understanding of all of the following – foundational knowledge of investments, financial planning, financial planning topical area, financial planning tool(s)
- Exceptional written, verbal, and communication skills – ability to simplify the complex
What Could Set You Apart:
- MBA or similar masters-level degree preferred
- CFP, CPA, CIMA, CFA, law degree or other relevant designation strongly preferred.
