The Leader of AI Specialists is a player-coach role where the individual will be leading a small team of AI specialists (Sr level individual contributors), in addition to owning, directing, and managing the activities for a department (consisting of several teams) of associates/contractors responsible for developing AI solutions and/or related enabling capabilities. In additional to the direct people leadership responsibilities, this leader is expected to lead matrixed, cross-divisional teams to ensure cohesive AI strategies and governance can be executed for the enterprise.
This role has a mandate to further the effectiveness, awareness of, and engagement of AI capabilities at the firm. This position is not only responsible for helping to create educational materials for users across the firm, but also will be part of use case development in particular areas, including both home office and field facing use cases. While this individual may leverage their own skills to generate deliverables, this position is more about enabling others to hone their skills and scale this skill across the firm, working and/or leading cross functional teams
What You’ll Do:
- Develop, utilize, and evolve enabling capabilities needed to deliver Artificial Intelligence, at scale, to drive significant business value
- Lead the team that supports multiple cross-functional and matrixed teams across the Enterprise to advance and deliver on the AI capabilities and governance at the firm.
- Provide direction and leadership, developing a team and creating a strong team environment and building talent; able to lead and influence leaders and associates directly or indirectly
- Drive results individually and through other individual contributors and leaders in the department or indirectly through broad cross-functional matrixed teams
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI application and responsible AI governance and apply relevant industry learnings to inform development and evolution of capabilities and outcomes
- Help influence and execute efforts to evolve the Data & AI division
Skills/Requirements
- 6-10 years of experience required
- Associates Degree Required. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- SIE and Series 7 required within 6 months of hire
- Experience in Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, functional and/or technical area of expertise.
- Advanced understanding of data, analytics, and AI concepts (Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Generative AI)
- Leading in a broadly matrixed environment on large, heavily-governed, digital projects.
- Ability to lead a team while also managing own individual work domains
- Exceptional stakeholder management (at various senior leadership levels) and relationship skills; ability to influence without authority
- Ability to influence and get results from and through individuals
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated capacity to develop and implement practical strategies, plans and solutions to identified issues and problems
- Problem solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking
- Lead in a broadly cross-functional and emerging matrix environment
- Drive collaboration and influence across functions and levels
- Comfortable working through ambiguous situations to define precise requirements and priorities and drive actionable outcomes
