The position will support the stability of new technology platforms supporting Edward Jones’s application platform. This position will support strategic firm initiatives and contribute to defining and building the observability and stability patterns supporting product roadmaps. The role is expected to follow architectural best practices and, build scale and efficiencies that enable future business growth.

This role will join our Platform As A Service team as a Platform Engineer. This team is responsible for building and maintaining our on-premises Kubernetes platform. This involves a mix of platform enhancement efforts, regular maintenance tasks, and working directly with application teams to provide support and guidance as they deploy to our platform.
What You’ll Do:
- Write automation scripts (Ansible, Bash, Python) for platform operations, enhancements, and upgrades.
- Work with leadership to identify enhancements to the platform, prioritize within the team’s workload, and execute building new features for the platform.
- Provide support for our Kubernetes platform in all environments, ensuring continuous service and stability of the platform for our users.
- Join the on-call rotation for 24/7 support of production systems, ensuring continuous service and stability of the platform for our users.
- Contribute to the team’s work by participating in team events and meetings.
- Provide excellent service to our users by responding to their requests correctly within our defined SLA.
- Develop automation to improve the work of the team and our users’ experiences of our platforms.

Skills/Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience with Linux system administration and Linux command line
- 3+ years’ experience with Kubernetes container orchestration software (kubectl, etc)
- Experience with configuration management software (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Experienced in source code management and implementing of a branching strategy (GitHub) Scripting skills with multiple languages (e.g. Python, shell)
- Knowledge of configuring monitoring solutions and the creation of dashboards (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Preferred: Experience with server virtualization and networking/load balancing strategies (e.g. VMware, NSX)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another applicable field
What Could Set You Apart:

- Familiarity with Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Understanding of common deployment patterns for containerized applications
- Experience building and managing Kubernetes platforms at scale
- Familiarity with Kubernetes software ecosystem including common control software, tools and plugins (DKP/Tanzu/Rancher, Istio, Gatekeeper, kubectl, etc)
Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with a preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
