Essential Functions:
- Provide actionable insights to support business decisions, primarily by performing root cause, exploratory, sensitivity and scenario analysis, hypothesis testing, economic modeling, regression, and data visualization to identify patterns/trends/insights etc. on ambiguous business problems
- Merge, cleanse and transform complex data from multiple sources as needed for analysis.
- Understand and apply intermediate statistical concepts
- Apply critical thinking to pressure test and validate logic and outputs against known sources and understanding of business.
- Independently generate and incorporate insights into a cohesive story that clearly addresses business questions. Effectively create and communicate tailored messages to the business partners regarding analytic ideas, approach, key takeaways and actionable insights.
- Maintain a strong understanding of firm results & key business drivers and an understanding of key strategies & priorities of business to be able to apply business knowledge to analytic approach to address business questions.
- Serve as a technical and functional data subject matter expert.
- Maintain a working knowledge of data flows and data sources within relational databases.
- Develop and manage business relationships with project team members and leaders across the organization.
- Consult with business owners to understand the business problem. Collaborate with others to identify the appropriate analytic approach to solve the problem. Consider multiple approaches and draw connections across other analytical work before proposing a path forward.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required with an emphasis in finance, business, economics, data science, math or analytics preferred. Advanced degree or certification preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered.
- Proficiency interacting with various database and file storage systems (DB2, IDMS, Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL).
- Experience with data manipulation languages such as SQL, Impala, PL/SQL, Hive, Pig, XML required.
- Knowledge of statistical concepts and analytic techniques, including descriptive statistics, forecasting, economic modeling, various regression techniques, exploratory analysis, and variance analysis required
Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
**Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.**
