The Discretionary Management team is responsible for delivering innovative solutions that support the firm’s managed investment programs. We partner across multiple divisions to design, build, and enhance digital platforms that enable advisors and clients to efficiently manage discretionary portfolios. Our team combines deep subject matter expertise in advisory programs with modern product management practices to ensure seamless experiences, regulatory compliance, and scalable technology solutions. By aligning strategy with execution, we drive initiatives that improve operational efficiency, elevate client outcomes, and support the firm’s long-term growth.
What You’ll Do:
Here are a few of the Key Responsibilities:
- The Product Owner II serves as the individual accountable for one of our durable delivery teams, and serves as business owner for one or more systems, leading a multi-disciplinary and cross-divisional product team to deliver value to internal and external customers of the Firm.
- Reporting to the Product Manager of Discretionary Management, this individual aligns strategy to execution through the development and maintenance of their product roadmap, outlining the body of work expected now, next, and into the future.
- This work includes management of system plans and supporting artifacts encompassing resource needs, stakeholder solution requirements, dependencies, timelines, milestones, and success criteria as necessary to deliver on the promised business value.
- Success in this role requires depth and breadth of subject matter expertise inside and outside the domain of firm-traded advisory programs, as well as a foundational understanding of Product Management and Design Thinking theory, and the ability to expand these capabilities within the organization.
- This person will lead their matrixed product team through influence as well as task assignment authority, mentoring and coaching all team members to fulfill the product vision.
- This individual will additionally advise and align with adjacent product teams to ensure a consistent and cohesive progression of the department strategy.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management information systems, computer science, or related field
- FINRA Series 7 and 63 or 66 (or must obtain within first six months of employment)
- Minimum 7+ years of experience within wealth management, portfolio management or institutional trading:
- Portfolio construction or oversight of wealth management platforms
- A robust understanding of full-cycle software development within an Agile framework.
- Strong knowledge of financial services concepts, practices, and procedures, with emphasis on the Software Delivery Lifecycle, Agile, Trading Operations and Product Management
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail orientation with strong analytical capabilities
- Ability to overcome ambiguity and deliver results
What Could Set You Apart:
- Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Finance or alternative such as CFA or CFP
**This role has the potential for On-Call weekend or evening availability to support business needs during testing. **
Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
