Team Overview:
Overlay Management serves advisors and clients by efficiently and expertly addressing their tax, risk, and customization needs through the coordinated management of investments across sleeves, accounts, and households. Applying seasoned judgment to orchestrate tailored outcomes from a complex web of client and model provider inputs, helps clients achieve goals and financial wellness, drives advisor efficiency, and makes a client and advisor’s relationship with Edward Jones irreplaceable.
What You Will Do:
A primary focus for the Associate Overlay Portfolio Manager will be to assist the overlay portfolio management team in monitoring SMA strategy implementation. This includes using analytical tools to monitor performance and risk. The Associate Overlay Portfolio Manager will also work with the other members of the overlay portfolio management team to refine, develop, and assist in the daily implementation of overlay portfolio management processes including tax loss harvesting, equitization, and multi-year tax managed transitions.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor performance of separate account composites relative to benchmarks as well as corresponding institutional composites.
- Analyze performance attribution reports on separate account strategies to identify key factors affecting performance.
- Participate in and lead calls with sub-advisor trading and portfolio management teams to onboard new strategies and address model communication issues with existing strategies.
- Assist other overlay portfolio managers with active tax loss harvesting process, account equitization, and multi-year tax managed transitions.
Skills/Requirements
What Experience You Need:
- 5+ years’ industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technology skills and learning agility with new technology
- Ability to think critically and research/analyze data
- Demonstrated organizational skills & attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
What Could Set You Apart:
- Experience applying data science or advanced analytics to business or operational decision-making
- Programming experience in Python, particularly for analysis, automation, or process optimization
- CFA designation or progress towards
- Experience monitoring /evaluating investment management strategies
*Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June 1, 2026. Before June 1, 2026, candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
