The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a strategic partner across Operations, Product, Technology, Compliance, Service, and external vendors to optimize business processes, systems, and data capabilities supporting Insurance Operations. This role leads complex cross-functional initiatives, translates business needs into scalable solutions, and drives operational improvements that enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and support strategic objectives.
As a subject matter expert in annuity operations, the Senior Business Systems Analyst provides functional leadership for system implementations, process modernization efforts, vendor governance, and business transformation initiatives. Success in this role requires strong analytical and relationship management skills, deep industry expertise, and the ability to influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technology teams to identify, prioritize, and implement system enhancements, process improvements, and operational initiatives.
- Lead business analysis activities, including requirements gathering, process mapping, impact assessments, solution design, testing, and implementation support.
- Analyze business processes, systems, and data flows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, improved controls, and enhanced customer and associate experiences.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for annuity operations processes, systems, workflows, and data.
- Support the successful onboarding and implementation of new products, services, and business capabilities.
- Develop and maintain business requirements, process documentation, use cases, data flows, test plans, and other project artifacts.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives involving system enhancements, integrations, and operational change management activities.
- Support governance, risk management, and control processes impacting Insurance Operations.
- Manage key vendor relationships, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, governance activities, and ongoing operational support.
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment and provide functional leadership for business-driven projects and strategic initiatives.
- Drive digital transformation and process modernization efforts that improve operational effectiveness and scalability.
- Support Shared Services initiatives and broader capability objectives across the organization.
Skills/Requirements
- Five or more years of experience supporting, implementing, or improving business systems, operational processes, data solutions, or technology platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry with demonstrated annuity operations expertise.
- Experience leading business analysis efforts, including requirements documentation, process design, testing, and implementation support.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex business and technology impacts.
- Proven ability to lead initiatives, build consensus, and influence stakeholders across multiple functions without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship management, and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities, projects, and deliverables in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working with enterprise applications, system integrations, data management, reporting, and business intelligence tools.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, CRM platforms, or other insurance technology solutions.
- Experience with vendor management, process improvement, workflow automation, and operational risk management.
- Life & Health Insurance License required or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe.
