Team Overview
Within the Edward Jones culture of partnership, the Agent & Program Trading Team plays a critical role in supporting the firm’s retail fixed income trading activities. The team is responsible for facilitating client trading activity across multiple programs and fixed income product types, including CDs, Treasuries, Mortgage-Backed Securities, Municipal Bonds, Corporate Bonds, and other fixed income investments. By delivering competitive pricing, strong execution quality, and best execution for client orders, the team helps support the unique needs of more than 8 million clients across the U.S. and Canada.
As an Associate Trader II, you will take on increasing responsibility for trade execution, market analysis, client facilitation, and business improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your capital markets knowledge, develop expertise across a broad range of fixed income products and client trading programs, and contribute to a highly collaborative environment focused on client service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Execute Agent and Program Trading responsibilities with limited guidance while facilitating client trading activity and supporting best execution across multiple fixed income products and programs.
- Demonstrate understanding of market analytics, including economic, credit-specific, monetary policy, and geopolitical impacts on fixed income markets and trading activity.
- Deliver client service excellence by researching and resolving general and non-routine branch inquiries.
- Ensure best execution and understand all firm and industry regulatory requirements.
- Establish an in-depth understanding of internal and external trading systems and related tools.
- Utilize data and analytical tools to support trading decisions, business monitoring, and performance measurement.
- Complete projects supporting the trading team’s business plan, including operational excellence, process improvement, and automation initiatives.
Skills/Requirements
What Experience Do You Need
- B.A./B.S. degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or quantitative-related field, or related experience
- 9+ months of financial services experience required; capital markets experience preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and perform in a fast-paced trading environment
- SIE, Series 7, 52, and 66 required (or obtained within 6 months depending on licensing windows)
- Position is not remote eligible, it will be based in office in either St. Lous, Mo or Tempe, AZ.
What Could Set You Apart
- Experience trading or supporting fixed income products and markets
- Working knowledge of capital markets analytics, trading strategies, and risk management techniques
- Working knowledge of internal and external trading systems and related tools, including Bloomberg and other third-party electronic trading platforms
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, controls, or client outcomes
- Proficiency in non-trading applications or coding languages (i.e., Microsoft Suite, Power BI, Tableau, VBA, SQL, Python, etc.)
- Experience working with trading technology platforms, electronic trading workflows, or automation initiatives
- CFP, MBA, CFA, CPA, or working toward applicable designation(s)
